The hotel reopened in 1996 as the new Hotel President Wilson, in honor of the 28th President of the United States of America, Woodrow Wilson-founder and relentless defender of the League of Nations. In 1992, the family renovated and expanded the hotel with a 190 million CHF investment that included an additional wing of 80 guestrooms and suites, a conference center, underground parking, and a terrace with an outdoor pool. It was bought by Swissair and Nestlé in 1980, then later acquired by the Tamman family in 1989.
